Leave it to Bill Maher to find the humor, as only he can, in the current Republican political idiocy.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful seed! Thanks seed. There's a truly wonderful song byWoodie Guthrie which reflects even more clearly the reality a Jesus Chrish campaign for the presidency would face, and there it is: Jesus Christ, Woodie Guthrie, in only 2 minutes and 40 seconds.

For those of you who simply hate music, here are the words:

Jesus Christ
Words and Music by Woody Guthrie

Jesus Christ was a man who traveled through the land
A hard-working man and brave
He said to the rich, "Give your money to the poor,"
But they laid Jesus Christ in His grave

Jesus was a man, a carpenter by hand
His followers true and brave
One dirty little coward called Judas Iscariot
Has laid Jesus Christ in His Grave

He went to the preacher, He went to the sheriff
He told them all the same
"Sell all of your jewelry and give it to the poor,"
And they laid Jesus Christ in His grave.

When Jesus come to town, all the working folks around
Believed what he did say
But the bankers and the preachers, they nailed Him on the cross,
And they laid Jesus Christ in his grave.

And the people held their breath when they heard about his death
Everybody wondered why
It was the big landlord and the soldiers that they hired
To nail Jesus Christ in the sky

This song was written in New York City
Of rich man, preacher, and slave
If Jesus was to preach what He preached in Galilee,
They would lay poor Jesus in His grave.

Oh man the GOP would HATE Jesus if he were alive, assuming he actually existed and was accurately represented in the Bible. You think the attacks on Obama are bad, they would most likely flat out call for Jesus assassination.

Redder

His assasination was already called for and completed 2000 years ago by the 1% of the era. The 1% hates people like Jesus. He calls them out for the greedy, selfish, ignorant people they are.

They can no longer actually assasinate anyone anymore so they use character assasinations frought with half truths and inuendo.

and that is really what is so sad. The pious hypocritical born again evangelicals ( and believe me i know they are not all pious and hypocritical) spew hate in the name of love, judgement in the name of God. They scream about things that are not in the Bible and ignore things that are. They are so far over the edge that I do not think they can see reality any more. It must break the heart of the god they claim they love and represent.

What kind of ideology is it when you give away everything by sharing with everyone and own nothing as Jesus said?

Good question, Royal Lacer. I can only think of two:

Franciscans, who takes Jesus's vow of povery seriousl,

and some early Native American tribes, which had the custom of the welthies person in he tribe give everything away each year.
